Description
Paraffin is a very important consumable in any histology laboratory. This item has become the essential lab supply when it comes to microtomy and specimen cutting. The reason is that paraffin wax is useful for impregnating tissue before sectioning thin tissue samples. The process begins when water is removed from the fabric by increasing concentrations of alcohol and the fabric is rinsed in an organic solvent such as xylene. After this, the fabric is placed in paraffin wax for several hours and then placed in a mold with wax to cool and solidify. The final process is when you cut the sections on a microtome. The paraffin trimmer removes excess paraffin from the embedding cassettes safely and easily by sliding it across the heated surface.
